We were not as impressed with the seats as our last long haul flight together, which was with Royal Brunei (flying with Cathay Pacific this time), we were seated and met some guy called Josh who was on ...

... only travel with spinner type luggage these days). We got a taxi to the hotel. It was a Premier Inn - very popular chain in London. They could not find our reservation, so we got out the paperwork. It turns out we were taken to the wrong Premier Inn - the other one was very new and the taxi driver probably didn't even know about it. We were thinking "what a mess - now we have to get another expensive taxi," etc. The nice gentleman at the ...

... Jeppesen style we managed to get out for a quick walk and miraculously found our two local pubs, The Elm and then on the next corner The Old Oak. We decided on a celebratory drink to welcome ourselves to London. A short stop to confirm that buying grog in supermarkets wasn't a myth... Just checked it out to see for myself. Prices convert to the same as Uncle Dan's. This little part of the world is safe, quaint and just right for ...

... plundered by the Peasants Revolt in 1381 (remember Wat Tyler from my Maidstone post? No? Oh well..) and the tower has stood strong since then.

Carvings on the wall by various prisoners have been preserved beneath plexiglass, and there is still a reduced display of armourments from the Royal armouries, mainly relating to Wellington & Henry 8.

Pretty souvenirs were bought and a great day had.

Now, back to the cousins for a little rest!..
