      I got very comfortable in Minnesota over the past few weeks. A little too comfortable, perhaps, but that happens with friends like mine. Yet I was losing momentum on my travels and struggling to take the next step. Strange, but it's as though the approaching inevitability of the trip terminus took over my mind, bringing me down.       Illinois is beautiful and green. I passed the state line across the Mississippi River today. I'm following the river on Highway 96 mostly. It makes for a beautiful ride. It's hard to get very far, because I keep stopping to admire the view or take a picture. I met a man on a bike in Quincy but he was not a touring cyclist.
