Our morning started with an early boat ride on the Rio Frio. We had great views of a Southern Lapwing, Green Ibis, many Kingfishers, and a Boat-billed Heron, along with some rather large Caiman. We then drove up some mountain roads just outside the preserve and were able to catch glimpses of Flame-throated Warbler, Spangle-cheeked Tanager, Black-cheeked Warbler, and a Collared Trogon. Unfortunately, we also crossed paths with a trail of Army Ants, and boy those things are vicious!! Their bite is painful, and one even drew blood!
