      Another day, another port. The Dominican Republic is the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola. The western side is Haiti. We docked at a port called La Romana. There are a few different things you can do here. We chose to visit some caves call Cueva de las Miravillas (the cave of miracles). It was a great option because we got to see a bit of the countryside, we had a very good taxi driver who told us a bit about the island life ...

      ... Rosa batey where we talked to one of the health promoters. We could see that she did not have many resources and could only cover extremely basic needs.
      It was extremely eye-opening to visit the bateys and despite all the issues, everyone was very welcoming and just like everyone I have met here, always cracking a joke and 'muy chistoso' (very funny).
