Black Diamond Diner - "The World's Smallest Railroad Diner" The diner is made from the cab of an old locomotive. Black Diamond was the name of a passenger train that used to pass through Trumansburg before the tracks were torn up. I had a Red Onion Romance and fresh ...

Seneca Falls has been considered the inspiration for the town in the movie "it's a wonderful life". It is also the birthplace of the women's rights movement.

The downtown area of Seneca Falls is quite nice. Lots of small shops, a great visitor center with ...

I'm not really a morning person, so unless I have to be somewhere pressing, I like to take my time. This morning is one such morning. After an ok night's sleep (the bed was a little harder than I first realized) I coaxed hot water out of my low pressure shower, washed, dressed, and walked next door to the Lafayette Restaurant. Yep, the locals must like this place; it's not packed with people, but it's nearly full ( and I'm here at 9:00 AM). Lots of ...

Arrived in Canandaigua New York around 5 o'clock and checked into my room at the Lafayette motel. The motel is a very nice mom-and-pop motel. It's nothing overly fancy but the grounds are maintained, the room is clean, and the bed is comfortable. There is a restaurant on the property that operates from 7 AM until 8 PM, and another restaurant across the street. Debbie, at the front desk, was very nice. Total cost of the room for the night $75. Not bad, given the fact that ...

        Fuel shortage?

A travel blog entry by backroadtravels on Sep 25, 2015

I stopped in Geneva to look for a gas station. Geneva is a very nice college type town with a wonderfully revitalized downtown area, but there did not appear to be an abundance of gas stations. I was really quite surprised, given the fact I was on one of the major routes going through town. I had to drive through a good part of town before I eve saw a gas station, and it wasn't even a major ...
