... to be attacked, the townspeople left their homes and went to "live" in the citadel. It was equipped to live in with food and shelter for a few months. ... that most of the fireworks they were letting off had actually been banned in New Zealand years ago! The fireworks which were let off were quite scary as there was a massive crowd and we heard windows smashing. It was really weird seeing so many sober people at New Years compared to back home haha. After my walk around the palace, I made my way to Unification square for the start of a walking tour. En route, I stopped at a bakery for a breakfast snack of a sausage baked in bread (I can't for the life of me remember what it was called!).
