But, the car has given us a lot of flexibility, and we are seeing lots of different types of houses, lots of different fashions (my wind pants might not have been so bad in rural Romania), and without a car, we would never have been stuck behind a horse-drawn wagon full of fresh manure in Romania. What an experience that was!

We hope you are all well.

So it was lovely to be do even a little bit to help (and then went and found their website and made a donation to them as well – I’m not sure how much my help would convert to an actual dollar amount but it was sure nice to be able to get my hands dirty and feel like I was contributing something more than just a credit card).

... around. A local told me that he thinks Americans don’t travel here much because they are afraid – afraid of the Communism, even though Communism fell over 20 years ago. Europeans travel here all the time, mostly for skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer. I used a public toilet underground and had to grab a wad of toilet paper from the man working behind the counter. A little awkward. But even more awkward was when I went into ...
