Milos and the beach!

... we managed to get a shot of me jumping off ten+ meter cliffs into the ocean. Mirna conquered her fear of heights and jumped of a very large rock, without screaming. We then just lay around in the sun, and fell deeper in love with Milos. Besides the heavenly water, and sparkling beaches there is, how shall i put it, cheese. Yesterday we ate the best grilled and spicy goats cheese. And for a couple cursed with lactose intolerance we can proudly say it was worth it.

Man, this is windy!!

After our second stay in Folegandros we boarded a ferry and headed to the island of Sifnos. We had read many great things about Sifnos and were excited to see it. Sifnos was pleasant, but it did not really live up to all of the hype that we had heard. It really could not compare to the authenticity and beauty of Folegandros.

The port town was pleasant and we chose to stay at a small hotel called Morfeas. The owner was very nice and even used his own car to pick us up at the port ...

The best island in Greece

... windmills can be seen in a couple of spots. At one time the island was farmed with great difficulty for wheat and olives. The dry climate combined with the rocky and mountainous terrain made farming here quite hard. Today, there is little farming done and the windmills are no longer used to grind wheat. However, you will encounter donkeys wandering around as well as a few cows and it is not uncommon to see people riding donkeys as a ...

Discovering the beauty of Folegandros

... hot summer, most of the landscape was dry and brown – all the vegetation looked wilted due to the scorching weather.

We did not see many villages as we were passing through the village but I remember we were going mostly uphill most of the way. The village looks undisturbed by modernisation and we even passed by a man riding on his donkey, which is still being used in this ...

1st day in Folegandros

... new elements, we find that most of the authentic parts of the mediaeval building are cleverly preserved.

Our room (Room 4), albeit a little small in size, has
a small window facing the beautiful Aegean Sea with a magnificent view.
All the sea-view rooms in this hotel are extremely popular and are usually
very quickly snapped up. Despite enquiring months in advance, we were informed
that the ...

Today we decided to rent a car! It is so easy to rent thing abroad, we gave them our expired driver license and they thought nothing of it.haha. We did some off roading down some really hairy dirt paths that went right along the cliffs right down to the ocean, had the best time just driving around and exploring. So then decided that we want to drive ...

A Gyro's Welcome

... up some groceries and wine at the supermarket and settled in to what would be our hang-out for the next few days - the porch. Porch sidebar: Porches are really great architectural inventions. They allow time outside, while still having all the amenities of the inside just a few feet away. They also allow the possibility of meeting neighbors, or just people watching if you choose. I had a porch in college which served as a great social arena, and I am pretty sure it's where the ...

... s supply and demand. Morning found us lugging our bags onto the public bus and venturing back into Venice to meet Mickel, Andy, and Sarah. They had taken the night train, which had turned into a disaster when they didn't reserve seats. They spent the entire night standing in the aisles of a packed train. We boarded the ship around noon and the entire process was very quick and painless. We gorged on a buffet lunch on deck as the ship navigated through the Giudecca ...
