There was an abbey built on the site which was destroyed by an earthquake so a new one was built in the 18th century. It was deconsecrated in the 19th century and served as a hospital, poorhouse, prison of war and normal prison until 1992. It is most likely there were ...

A bit more walking around this exquisite place, a quick visit to a much quieter village then back to the hotel by 4pm. After driving back through Naples we drve right accross Italy to a farmhouse in a olive orchard where we were staying the night. We visited a seafood shop on the fishing wharf and Dad bought oysters and mussels and scallops which mum cooked up for dinner. The farmhouse was a little rough but we spent the night planning some of the other destinations to follow. Good Night for now. - Grace
