Lake Malaren Västerås, Västmanland, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden
Woke up to yet another beautiful sunny day in Visby. You never really hear much about Gotland back home in Canada when speaking about travel, and it really seems like a place that shouldn't be missed. Only being there for two days could never be enough to experience all that this incredible place has to offer, and I really hope to go back sometime in the near future, perhaps to see the rauk formations on the north part of the island ...
Enköping, Uppsala County, Sweden mcphailc... proceeds to start advertising me as a green card opportunity! She is absolutely hilarious and everyone loves her in this town... It isn't long before she introduces me to a group of three girls who are my age and just finishing up university in West Palm Springs where they had been recruited to play soccer... they are unbelievably nice, seem to hang on Malin's every word (despite the slurred nature of them at ...
Vasteras, Sweden madman96... in Vasteras... We hit up a bar called Blue Moon Bar for something called "After Work". I'm expecting a happy hour just as any I would have ever been to back in the states, or maybe a "Live at Five" type deal from Charlotte, but what I got was so much more! After Work is a sight for sore eyes with people of all ages (20 to 80) chanting, dancing and drinking into the late night sunlight... Everyone was so happy, not to ...
Vasteras, Sweden madman96... Sweden was murdered near the site of the Cathedral in the mid-12th century and pilgrims come to see his relics there The Uppsala Cathedral was built from the 13th to 15th centuries and is the largest church in Scandinavia. Carl Linne (Linnaeus) lived in Uppsala and he is also buried in the Cathedral. He sent many students to different parts of the world on field trips to collect specimens - one went with Joseph Banks to Australia with Captain Cook, others died of ...
Sala, Sweden everardtWanting to see more of Sweden, we planned a few days driving north of Stockholm, however the car decided to have a broken timebelt which we only fixed in the nick of time so we ended up with one day to drive. We decided to head for Västerås to see some viking stone ship settings. The weather wasn't great but it was very interesting and we managed to fit in a couple of caches. (www.geocaching.com)
Västerås, Sweden ozitag... heard of it. Anyone empathizing? For those of you who also elected to take Nap time 101 over Current World Affairs here's a little "refresher" nipped and tucked mostly from Wikipedia: Before Schengen, citizens of western European countries could travel to neighbouring countries by showing their national ID card or passport at the border. Nationals of some countries were required to have separate visas for every country in Europe they wished to visit. A ...

Västerås, Sweden sandramorrow... yes Mother, I know what they say about making assumptions about Europe: "It makes an ASS of the E.U. and ME," well, at least we can say the latter is true) But, yes, I "ASSUMED," wrongly, that this meant as long as I stayed less than three months, I was allowed to visit EACH E.U. country for a maximum of 90 days allowing me to frolic freely from country to country within the E.U., as long as I stayed less than three months in each. In the embassy sights I perused the existence ...

Västerås, Sweden sandramorrow... whole thing. We then went down to the lake to see what kind of fun was going on there. The lake was beautiful and so was the weather. The girls sunning themselves were even better. There is a full beach volleyball set up just on one side of the lake and is very well looked after. I wish my home town would do the same and look after it's facilites. We hung out at the beach for ...
