... today we were just heading south on our way to Beaumont, the last stop on our way to New Orleans. The weather was cooperating, and stayed between 82 and 86 degrees all day. No wind and no rain, just the perfect weather for riding. We basically stuck to US-271S, TX-49E, US-59S, and US-96S, all the way to Vidor, Texas. ... less than 500 kms today but I am bagged. I see a sign for Winnie, TX. The sign that really caught my eye was Al-T's Seafood Restaurant. A bowl of Gumbo would be great right now! I took the turn and pulled into an ABVI, sadly not a walkout version but right next door to Al's!

So they had a room, but the storm had knocked out their computers so they couldn't accept my credit card. I keep a little 'merican cash on me, but not much. ...

Usually, these tiny bats come out at sunset, but the time varies depending on how hungry they are. Turns out they must have had bat Thanksgiving the previous day, because they don't start emerging until well after sunset. Still,driving across Texas. Staying at Hidden Lake RVPark for two nights although there's nothing to do in Beaumont. But the park is nice. Rainy and humid but okay! Like the sound of rain. We had dinner at Tia Juanitas, interesting MX and cajin food. A new food we never had before, ...
