... is 3,883 metres or 12,739 feet high and this year on August 15th is the 150th anniversary of its first ascent. Every night at 9.30, 10.00 and 10.30pm skiers have been lighting different ski paths up the Matterhorn and it looks beautiful. We are so proud of ourselves for making the trek up the mountain and actually walking outside AND taking some of the most amazing photos. After the late fondue last night getting up was always going to be a little difficult. However, we both made it to breakfast and were one of the first to the bus stop. At Saas Fee we made our usual dash to the gondola, which was already open today, and we set off up the mountain. The next gondola was also open so we went up in that to the underground train so we could start the day at the top of the mountain. On the way up we had entered the clouds so we did not know ...

... three of them before the conditions began to make JJ quite weary. The groomed runs had been cut up into piles the the skiers who crowded onto the runs to enjoy a last weekend which great snow. These runs are the glacier runs and go even higher than the revolving restaurant, so this is as high as either JJ or I have skied before.
It is clear that JJ is beginning to grow and some of the techniques and strategies he used when he was smaller are not working ...
