The Kingdom bowed before the Himalayas

... vehicles. We all need facial at the end of the trip if we can find one in Pokhara, probably only to find turmeric powder as a replacement. “Oh, I am no Ginger Face …thank you”

Nepal, also offers attractions like the Himalayas. Trekking is so popular, commonly ventured by the westerners, having a package offered to walk round the Annapurna mountain range takes 21 days can be exciting. A good wait in the early hours to watch the first light on the ...

... rich in religious art and architecture, and there are three ancient cities, Kathmandu, Bhaktpur (the City of Devotees) and Patan, to explore.

Nepal's southern border area is jungle forest, full of elephants, rhinos, tigers, monkeys, deer, water buffalo, crocodiles, and innumerable species of birds. The Chitwan National Park has several fine jungle camps located on the edge or just inside of the park, which are well worth a ...

A day at the orphanage

... girls' room to see h ow they are. The girls are so cute and often dance traditional Nepali dances for us. They have wonderful voices and dance very well. To be fair, they make us dance and sing as well, but I can only recall ****** Britney Spears lyrics and the only dance we know is the chicken dance. I then go to bed and read until 8-9 o'clock and then go to sleep. That's pretty much my day at the orphanage in a nutshell.

The Project-Week 3

... the silver lining....as if you would need to outhere!!!! But i like the nickname and its sticking!!!! Good Times.
We did however have a extremely hard blow to group moral, when one of our key group member, Simon 'Moto Manse' Baker received the sad news of a bereavement in the family and decided to return to the UK. We were really upset to lose such an amazing guy, with his cracking personality and his ireplacable singing. The kids miss ...

Bye bye India - hello Nepal

Arrived into Kathmandu the other day. Have to admit it was a relief to have left India. After spending 3 weeks in McLeod Ganj getting back into Delhi was full on. Went to see the Taj Mahal on a big tour bus. When it reached, we were told cos we'd paid extra we would get a special tour. Fell for it hook line sinker like stupid tourists and got off the bus away from the rest ...

Pay back time!!

... He was busy chatting to the locals who formed a continuous stream both up and down the trail. The road finishes at Sundarajal so the only way to get anything to their homes is for them to carry it! Several times we passed a couple of guys that Krishna explained were odd job men who called at local settlements carrying out various tasks. The photo of the little girl eating the apple I gave her was one place where we saw these two guys. The little girl’s mother went ...

He managed to find a really cool one for a good price, and we even found a little Punjabi suit for Hope!!! She is the best dressed, best travelled bear in the world!

Tonight we ate again in the hotel and spent some time chatting with Charman (the hotel owner) and David who ...

Goat blood and Mars bars

... of the Annapurna range of Himalayas. The weather was atrocious on arrival, just our luck, and we again played into the hands of the touts nicely. This time we were escorted through curtains of rain to 'Elegant Guesthouse' which looked like a B&B lifted straight out of some Welsh valley. Nevertheless it was on a standard of luxury so far unencountered in Asia with attached bathrooms, room service and newly painted walls. It was cheap as well.

Before we ...
