    Lobster pods and science

A travel blog entry by juliocamperio on Feb 25, 2015

Today we ran into 2 rogue lobster pods that got caught on the port zinc of the ship. We had to change course and make anchor in St John. There we had the chance to jump into the water finally. I was lookout while sailing through a very busy channel. The sea was calm and the winds were fair. We did see ...

Another marvelous week in St. Croix. Monday there was much less seaweed in the water and the "Caribbean Blue" color has returned. We celebrated with another day sunning and reading on the beach (do you see a theme here?) Temperatures are same year round - low 80s and sunny! The beach right in front of our condo is nice white sand and swimmable (not all North Shore beaches are due to rocks.) We were disappointed to not see the typical brilliant Caribbean blue water – it is ...

I was going to catch a space A flight to WA, but the pilots decided they didn't want to accommodate a retiree. A bit frustrating, but the plane ticket was just under $500 for last minute one way. I would of stayed longer, but I am running out of steam and feel a need to get back. There was a flight going to KY tomorrow, but who knows if they would take space A or not. If ...

... A nice guy was helping me to look for them. It turned out Matt was inside the gate waiting for us, with his rubber dingy. He told us that the weather was going to be very bad so we would not be able to go to the snorkeling place they were planning to take us. They would refund us the money if we wanted to cancel. But if we wanted to go, they could take us to the nearby spots. I asked if there would be fish to see, they said there might be. We decided to go ahead and not cancel the ...
