water water everywhere (again)

... very blowy, wet & wild. All the blood kept rushing to my furry head as Martyn had put me in the tank bag sideways & the bike was leaning so far over to keep upright in the wind. I peeked out at the view to see a very big flood at the dip in the road. A big artic. truck was heading towards us on the other side & met us at the bottom. It make such a big splash that everybody disappeared ...

Lamphey Court Hotel

I had to move hotels since the main one was fully book on this night.
So, it was over to the Lamphey Court Hotel - an old mansion that was converted. Not the same as the spa hotel in Saundersfoot, but this one does have an indoor pool.

It was an adventure trying to get here. With all the rain, the roads were flooding. If it weren't for TomTom, I'm not sure I would have found the 4th way to get to the hotel. And I still had to drive through standing water.

At the hotel

Back at the St. Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot.
Unfortunately, winter doesn't make this the best place to stay. It's dark when you are at the hotel, so you don't get the views. And the spa doesn't stay open late enough in the winter. At least I will get to enjoy it over the weekend.
And the walk along the coast - kind of scary in the dark. But you do get to see a bunch of stars and parts of the Milky Way because there isn't much light pollution out here.

Whisky, Water and Chocolate making Monks!

... yummy chocolate and not so nice perfume which we sampled at a local store. Lunch at a local pub and back in the van.

St David's was our next stop, home of St David's Cathedral and some amazing views of the coast which Josh and I briefly walked along. We also saw the chapel (origional and rebuilt) of St Nan, mother of St David. Nearby is a well, which still runs today which is said to have healing ...

The plan so far ? what plan?

Tuesday Oct 13th flying from Heathrow to Delhi, 9 hours in the YMCA then on the overnight train to Dharamsala. I have no real itinery as such which as all us old wise sages know is the best plan of all. Save of course seeing if the Dalai Lama is in . Then seeing if Buddhism....well......seeing if it fits? . I understand Buddhism is ...

Carew Castle

A pretty well preserved castle.

One of the main towers was closed for some work, so I didn't get to climb everything. And the other tower is reserved for bats.

Did have an interesting little chapel.

Good views of the castle across the water.

Coastal Path Wanderings

... five hundred odd years before becoming obselete 100 years ago due to the production of cheap flour from other sources. The path continued, a frequently muddy, narrow path wrapped around high, rugged cliffs overlooking waves crashing on jagged rocks below, beautiful. Felt very Welsh.

The little town, Trefin, where we're staying is so beautiful. Really small - too small for a ...

After the hills, some hills.

... stay was at Llandeilo so took us by Carreg Cennan castle, an evocative castle ruin perched spectacularly atop a crag overlooking the Towy valley. Beneath the castle are subterranean tunnels that you can explore. Torches can be hired from the visitor centre.

On to Llandeilo. We booked into the Cawdor, an old coaching inn, and left my precious steed in the back of the ...

Out of the City and on the Beach

... barracks in Europe before a true appreciation of the site is acheived. This fact is given on the only sign detailing the site. And that was my biggest problem with the ampitheatre and the barracks. While they are impressive, there isn't enough information given at the sites to tell you what you are looking at. We had to go to the museum for that information. Hopefully, the curators of the ruins have or soon will post better descriptions of the sites ...
