... that was going by as we were headed to our shelter and let them know what we saw. They thanked us and headed down stream to see about the boats. The shelter we stayed at the night of Misty's birthday was a join location, kept up by the Maori (Polynesians that came to the islands of New Zealand about 600 years before Europeans came) and the department of conservation (government agency)
We were the first arrivals for the night. It was a beautiful ...

Kimbolton, Wellington, New Zealand lornastravels... were great fun and really friendly and I boarded with them all day Sunday... they've invited me to stay with them when I'm back in Auckland and I'll probably take them up on it... its a shame all my contacts live in Auckland but I'm starting to understand why... its where the work is for starters but also there isn't a lot in some of the smaller towns and not a lot nearby either! Great for me travelling through but to live there ...
Ohakune, North Island, New Zealand kerrycupcakes... a three wheel car used for the inauguration of a US president. There was also the ultimate pimp car, full of brass.
After this visit, Sean was a very happy bunny. We continued our trip towards Ohakune. As usual, we go the the i site to look for bargains for the accommodation. The woman there found us a super cheap chalet, even cheaper than a backpacker place!! We were delighted. We also saw that some ski slopes were ...
From Waitomo, we headed towards National Park Village for a Help X placement. The village is not nearly as exciting as it sounds, but its super close to the famous Tongariro Crossing so we really wanted to stay there in hopes of getting a chance at doing the Crossing. Actually the main picture for this blog was scooped from Google and is the Emerald Lake from the Tongariro mountain. It's also famous for "Mount Doom" from Lord of the Rings... needless to ...
National Park Village, North Island, New Zealand thatgirlkate... gaten waar zwavel wolken uit kwamen.
National Park Village, North Island, New Zealand whvanderpost... type town with not much to do but a few nice cafes and certainly a nice place to eat called The Cyprus Tree where I had the best pumpkin canelloni EVER, washed down with a really nice bottle of NZ Pinot Noir and followed by passionfruit cheesecake and a mocha! Man, I was full to busting! Roar had some kind of dead thing meal, but he said his was ace too! Our accommodation there was also top notch - a cute little self ...
Ohakune, North Island, New Zealand beeb81...
Whakapapa Village, North Island, New Zealand mariaandeva... on the viewing decks above!! After a brief supermarket stop in Taupo town centre for some supplies it was then a 2 hour drive to our next stop, Ohakune. Lisa did most of the driving and coped well with the heavy rain when driving through Tongariro national park. Ohakune is a ski mega town in the Winter thanks to the imposing Mount Ruapehu which adorns the town. Sadly, due to the bad weather driving in ...
