... a scratch and then hit this car in Maine.

The officer was on site within 15 minutes. We each had a chance to explain what happened. I pointed out to the officer that the car was parked part way in the road – not giving me much room to turn. He pointed out that since this was on private property (campground) there was no fault to be given. I proceeded to call my insurance agent and ...

... things, we went to Giacomo's for their "all you can eat" soup special. Afterwards we wandered around a few shops downtown and discovered that Shiner has made its debut in Bangor! (We bought a case for later.) We also stumbled upon a store that has wine making classes and had we known this 6 weeks earlier, we would definitely have signed up on the spot to make a barrel. >sigh< we will just have to try ...

Arriving back at the ranger's station, we filled our packs up, grabbed some water, and started back to Abol bridge, hiking the Blueberry Trail. Such a beautiful trail, but on the way back...I busted my ass on a large/wet last ass slapper from the trail! After that long day we stayed at the Abol bridge csmpground.....mistake. It was $28.00, and you still had to pay for a shower. I should have ...

... out to be Bangor. After being turned away at a Best Western outside of Bangor because it was full, we found rooms at the Fireside Inn in Bangor, where the children are sleeping as I write this. Once I have published this entry, I will join them.

Tomorrow, we go through Bar Harbor to Acadia National Forest and into New Brunswick, to get to Hopewell in order to enjoy views of the tides at the Bay of Fundy.

... Of course I had heard of the hard winter northern New England was having; other parts of the US were hit hard too, but where we live the amounts of snow and cold temperatures were unprecedented, record breaking. In our part of central Maine we usually receive around 100" of snow each winter; this year we are well beyond double that, and more is still predicted and can be expected, at least into April and maybe even beyond. (I hope not.) Except ...
