A 12 hour car ride definitely went by fast!.. The bad side was that our little second cousin had an accident and barfed everywhere, even on Vu's foot, so that was an unfortunate occurance. Apparently in Vietnam, there are differences between "cocktails" and "Vietnamese cocktails," or it says on the menu at least. I ordered what was called "Captain Flame" (lol.... flame... super homo...) and asked why it was called that. The waitress told me that I would see why... so I get it, drink it, and i...

... our bucket and then proceeded to throw some serious shapes on the vietnamese dancefloor. The place was full of backpackers from every corner of the globe - one girl was even a punk canadian!
It was a bit of a shame, on the way home Michael got mugged. Surprisingly though, it was three old vietnamese ladies - which kind of made the whole thing quite funny! plus, they only got the equivalent of 4 pounds!
... eating foods that have got stuck to us. We are both becoming more comfortable within the water, and controlling out buoyancy, there are a few occasions when Leah floated to the top, its so hard to notice you are gradually ascending and descending until you either reach the surface or touch the bottom, especially when the water is so clear.
After our two dives we went back, explored the town and revised for our final exam. The exam being designed for 10 year olds, it would be rather ...
Hello Nha Trang!
Funky little town with a massive beach and LOTS of bars and restaurants.
We found a little dive shop run by a big friendly french guy, who took us out on his boat for our first ever fun dives! Pretty cool, although I had blocked sinuses and couldn't descend very well. We went through a cave although i can't remember the official name for it but it was dark and small and there were ...
Sunday 11th October - Nha Trang
Today we spent some time looking around Nha Trang town. Getting up late we headed down the couple of blocks to check out the beach and find some brunch. Right on the beach was a swanky surf club complete with beach bar, bamboo buildings and a comprehensive menu. We settled down and enjoyed big meals washed down with fruit shakes for an expensive Vietnamese price which was still cheap by NZ standards. After wandering down the beach a ...
... we met back in HCMC and spent rather a drunken evening teasing Amanda about flirting with the bodybuilder handing out free drinks at the bar and then Jamie for his utter inability and unwillingness to dance! (We got him up there in the end though!). Chloe turned out to prove the stories about "the quiet ones" true but being rather a kick as dancer!
Anyway off to Hoi An next which is meant to do dirt cheap tailoring!
... cos she wouldn't leave us alone till we had. She couldn't believe that I was from South Africa and Jules was from England, she said it was weird! She then nick named him Africa and continued to bug us throughout the morning. When the police arrived, she used my chair as a hiding place. If they get caught selling they get a fine.
Our hostel did a pretty good deal on dinner and drinks and if you bought dinner at the green apple restaurant which ...
... lived, but we just wandered round oohing and awing and taking pictures of baby animals (pot bellied pigs, puppies, chicks, ducklings). After the tour of the village we went on an elephant ride around the lake and then came back through the lake, it was a little scary, kept thinking the elephant was gonna try and roll in the water. The best bit of all was feeding the elephants at the end. We bought a load of sugar cane for a couple of dollars, and the elephants were like kids, pushing ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam whatthedeuce... I met was so nice. We made plans to hang out again the following evening.
Yesterday I woke up bright eyed and ready for Scuba. Diving was good. The first dive was probably the best because it was the deepest one I did with the most wildlife. We saw a sea snake, tons of fish, barracuda, lion fish and fluke. There were a ton of holes and caves we swam through were we also had a close up view of the wildlife living there. The second ...
... It's a mistake, it can't be Mama Linh's!
I look on the sign of the boat and sure enough, it is.
I wait until everyone boards, I notice behind me is the one foreign couple also looking a little perplexed. Craig says "well, I'm getting on, are you coming?"
"FINE!"
I was not a happy camper, I'd been looking forward to this for ages, I couldn't believe it. There were really young children on board, everyone was a family except me, Craig and a few randoms.
