Link for my hiking progress

Here is the link to see progress as I go. It may take a little bit of
time for new points to be established, but hopefully it should work. :-)

Second Movement

We survived the night. We are now 50% of the hotel's population. Great news we survived our first real hike at on the AT in Baxter Park. That's the good news the bad news is Dooz was not allowed to step foot (paw) in the park. So he stayed behind and caught up on sleep. I am having technical issues - with my camera - no adaptor for photos to the internets. When we hit a more populated town ...

We made it...

We are all alive... 1494.1 miles. Dooz has found creative ways to find comfort in back of the jeep. I will load some photos once I find that darn adaptor. Our last update was from Kennebunkport MA. Yep was saw the summer home of the Bush family. I must admit it was rather nice. We went to a small restaurant where my dad would have flatlined. It was nothing special - more like a small shack - we had 2 appetizers split a lobster roll ...

DAY 4: Summitted a Mountain

... to hold onto. At those points we had to trust in the grips on our boots and basically shredded our fingertips to pieces. Oh the PAIN! When we got to what we thought was the top, we realized we were not even three miles up. We stopped at the "table" and had a liesurely lunch and I think we were all secretly contemplating not going any further. We watched as people continued straight up the boulders, we watched them ...

Mt. Katahdin (I Took A Walk to Zipperhead)

... south, and become a section hiker instead of a thru-hiker. It seems like the right thing for now. A thousand miles ahead of me instead of two thousand. Away from the stormy north, into the steamy south. It was an easy decision, but I know its one with consequences. I feel like some people might be let down that I've change everything so early in my trip. I hope those people will look kindly on their friend and remember that while the adventure may have changed, I haven't come running home yet.

At Wick's End

... until I reach St John, New Brunswick. What a hole. Sorry but most unimpressive visit yet. Nice people but the City doesn't offer anything. I made quick time in the morning and went to visit Roger's brother Steve in St Stevens next to the USA border. We went clam hunting and drinking. Quiet town and along a very touristy pathway. Touristy because it offers beautiful clear and deep lakes, ocean front and little wharf shops. Kayaking ...

Ledge Falls and Mt. Katahdin

... that entry. I did taichi at the edge of the plateau on the way down. When I got back down I returned to Ledge Falls and went in the water, which was about 2 to 3 feet deep, cool, clear and refreshing with a strong current. I left the park by the Nesowadnehunk entrance and took a private road until I reached the Ripogenous Dam cutoff and parked for the night. 45.8 miles for the day, expenses an average of $12.73 per day for 28 days

Close call with rain and a rising river

... south. I stopped first at the southwest corner of Eagle Lake and then further along I went 6 miles back a logging road of of 11 and stopped out in the middle of nowhere. I took a walk, saw a winter wren and did tai chi. Back on 11 north of Ashland I saw an old house by the road I wanted to do a painting of. There was a river across the road with a flat section along it that was down a dirt incline about 45 degrees and 15 ...
