... was way more fun than the way up! There were big patches of snow that were icy enough for us to slide down! Awesome. That was how we got most of the way down. Then we returned through the icy path, and walked back into town. We had a little while before the train back to Edinburgh arrived, so we ended up at a hotel next to the station. Inside there was a tiny little pub, probably about the size of my kitchen at home, with a few tables, 1 bar that ...
Blair Atholl, Scotland, United Kingdom traveledToday I decided to stay another night at Morags Lodge so that I could head off to Wolftrax mountain bike trails at Laggan. After reading their website I decided to stay away from the black route and to give the red route a try. This route was 15km long so I got straight to it when I go there at 11:30
The only problem that I found today, which is a pretty obvious one, is that in order to ...
Finally back at home. It's been 15 weeks and 12 countries (14 technically, but a stopover in Sydney and stepping on Zimbabwean soil whilst Bungy jumping don't count). There's been highs and low's throughout, but on the whole, the experience has been fantastic and completely and ...
Kingussie, Scotland, United Kingdom mikedzA surprise - wasn't expecting to see this type of detail in a non-fancy church. Looks like a farmhouse on the outside, but on the inside a very detailed painted ceiling.
I would guess that not too many people actually make it out to this site.
Today was the adventure up to the Isle of Skye yet firstly we had to try the local brew... whiskey! So first up we went to the Dalwhinnie distillery – world famous for its distillery and that's about it! Unfortunately we had just missed the tour and wasn't game to wait another 1.5hours for the next one so we minged, read up on the history and how the good stuff is made and came away with a few souvenirs.

... background. First fridge magnet brought of the Cathedral!
Across from the cathedral Lynda explained Uncle Dave's ashes were scattered by the River Tay and on the edge of the Cathedral as this was one of his favourite spots. Plus we learnt Lynda is a dog rescuer! River Tay has a particularly strong current so a dog she was dog-sitting (few months prior) was very lucky indeed.
... possible on the rope. At the back, were enormous older men who looked like they could hold the entire team themselves. They worked and strained so hard and had to work in unison pulling on the rope like a rowing team. They even had coaches shouting harsh words to those competitors they thought were not, literally, pulling their weight.
We had a beautiful day to watch the events, too. It was sunny (a rarity in Scotland) until about 4 p.m. when it began to pour ...

The drive took us to Queens View for some nice Scottish Loch landscapes before retuning to Pitlochry
It was starting to get grey and drizzly by the time we got home so we opted to skip the shopping walk, shooping on holidays is not really our thing so it was no great loss and we opted for a bottle of wine an a light meal in little restaurant called Port Na Craig down by the river Tay.
After yesterday's guided tour we thought it best to take Dorothy in our vehicle. We first went to see the votive candle stand Dorothy gave her church in memory of Peter. The church was still closed but we waited for the 10 o'clock service and attended that. The church is St Kessog's Scottish Episcopal Church. Although much shorter, the service was very similar to Catholic ceremonies – some prayers were word-for-word identical, but for the consecration of the hosts, the ...

A cool wind whipped throughout, and there was a really old, somewhat unsettling feel about the area, it was fantastic. A similar style feel to that of Stonehenge. Amidst the rain and winds, took a slight hike around. Felt like I could have stayed there for hours!
