We spent our first night at the Holiday Inn Express in Belle Vernon, across from Hoss's.
We started the next day with an early morning breakfast at Eat'nPark with our PA friends. After breakfast, we went to see my Dad and grand parents' graves, and then we hit the road.
For the first part of our trip, we took the back roads through Mt Pleasant, Donegal, and more. At Breezewood we got on to the turnpike for the rest of the ride.
From Carlisle yesterday we came through towns called Bedford,and Somerset, there was even one named Scotland. One could easily be mistaken for travelling through England!
The traffic even at 3pm was diabolical, so it was bumper to bumper as we made our way slowly to the hotel in West Pittsburgh. Paul was exhausted. He hates not knowing where he's meant to be going. One minute we're in one lane and suddenly you find oops you're supposed to go one another ...
I'm working on developing systems for traveling, sleeping, museum-hopping, exercising... it seems best to drive during the day and on back roads so I can maximize sight-seeing opportunities... it also turns out to be the safest way to go, so it's a double win.

The women are always in dresses, the men in dark or light clothing, full beards and straw hats. The wagons are more like buggies, the farm equipment all low tech and horse drawn. I had a little adventure, thinking I'd be clever and fly from Love Field...mistake!! The alternate terminal looks like it has been outfitted with the 70's cast-offs from the main terminal...I think the Shreveport airport is nicer, LOL. Despite the thrill of being TSA approved (again!), when I found I would have no Starbucks, I was pretty sad.
