Preamble

... plan as it stands: get there, don't get blown up, or bitten by a dengue fevered mosquito, or a malarial one, eat as much amok as possible to cram into 17 days, and get as many smiles as I can from the beautiful Princess Chenshophea, who will be accompanying me every step of the way.

I also intend to give 200 riel to every begging child who asks - it's too hard to say no, so I am not even going to try this time.

Only days to go until the one-and-a-half-a-thon so here is a quick update.

The Swim
Gastric irregularities and persistent ear ache have severely hampered training this week. Not even the thought of the extra publicity that an involuntary bowel movement would doubtless have caused could lure me to the municipal baths. The ear ache was almost certainly something I picked up when I retrieved my ear plugs from the ...

Heathrow and Home

... by having the best time of our lives you feel it was worth it. Most importantly, thanks to Rob for being the perfect travelling companion and putting up with me without (verbal) complaint solidly for four and a half months. You will be pleased to know that I managed to keep my job as chief navigator until the end of the trip despite two verbal warnings. Looking forward to catching up with everyone soon and getting down to researching the next part of our dream holiday...........(E)

Lego Land

... hangover... ok, ok, ok, we loved every minute of it actually and I still want a bajillion kids of my own someday. Anyway, so Lego Land. We loaded the kids up with sweets and took 'em on all sorts of rides and let them run around like mad. They did race cars, diggers, carousels (they wouldn't let Ride the carousel with out his shirt on! What!?) They have a mini land and it's ...

I Want to Hold Your Hand

... People were sunbathing and sitting on lounge chairs on the well-manicured lawns that were surrounding ponds full of ducks and wildlife. The flowers were just beautiful as well. Made it to Buckingham Palace and took some photos. One of the gates was open, with two police standing by. An elderly woman was trying to walk through, but they stopped her. The police seemed friendly and spoke to people as they came up to the gate. Leaving the palace, we headed ...

Oxford University--but not Cambridge (World)

... It is really made up of 36 colleges, 36 very OLD colleges, started prior to the 16th century. In fact, Oxford was known as a center of learning by 1167, and this is evident when you walk the streets. The architecture is old and beautiful, and you feel like you are walking through time.

Some tidbits we saw and learned: 1) We saw the Hertford Bridge modeled after the Bridge of Sighs ...

The Cosmopolitan in the Cosmopolitan city!

... Palace. It was very cold, but the trees in the park were beautiful, especially the orange hued trees. There were so many squirrel, pigeons & ducks roaming in the park. I took a serene stroll along one of the most famous parks in London ( London has the most no. of public parks compared to any other city in the whole world! Impressive eh!). Buckingham Palace doesn't allow visitors inside during this time of the year. so we took the pics from outside its majestic gates. Sadly ...
