... savings of not having to stay at a motel or eating out in restaurants it's not so bad. Jan has a new "scrubby-thing" on a stick that she's going to use on the windshield. It just drank a quarter of a big bottle of Dawn. Can't wait to see if it actually works because we wiped out a large percentage of the flying insects between North Carolina and here today. Mom and I had to wake up at 9 a.m. so we could leave on time, which isn't particularly pleasant when you stayed up packing until almost 3 a.m. After a short stop at Wawa for breakfast and gas, we were off. We arrived at Albright College just before 12:00, just in time for check-in. The line moved quickly, and before I knew it we were headed up to my dorm. When we got ...

... when looking at the elevation profile: 12 miles through the Cumberland Valley, an almost completely flat expanse through fields and near towns. And terrain-wise, it was easy, but the problem was the weather. It was a very hot and humid day, and the fields offered much less shade than we normally got in the woods, so it turned from a spritely jaunt to a weary trudge fairly quickly, and I was happy to reach the end of that section and get back under the trees, even though we had ...
