It is here that the Museum of the Big Bend is found and that's what we went to see. As it didn't open until 1pm, we had a look round Alpine first, then had lunch and then went to the museum to have a look at the replica of Tall Rockshelter, a prehistoric pictograph. ... and downhill back. The hike started at an elevation of 5724 feet and climbed 1050 feet over the 2.5 mile distance. The vista from the top of the mountain was absolutely incredible, something you cannot describe in words. Nobody will ever convince me that a lighting bolt hit a mud puddle and that this came to life. With aching feet I opted out of a long hike for this afternoon.
