We went to Fort Davis, established in 1854. It is one of the nations best preseved frontier forts. We stopped at a snake place to see snakes. Mamaw did not come in. We went shopping. After that, we went to Marfia again and we saw more lights this time. The nights are darker here so I can see a lot more stars then back in Zanesville. I even saw the Milky Way!

We stopped and walked along the roadway for about ¼ mile. It was dead rabbits. · Several miles of abandoned "Car Hauling Railcars" on an adjacent rail line. Evidently, not many imported Japanese cars are being hauled eastward and no Detroit built cars are going west. · A border patrol tethered balloon along the Mexican border. It is huge! Resembling ...

But we were sensible and picked one of the cheapest rooms, all of which were very nicely dressed and perfectly comfortable. We returned downstairs to sign in, then dropped our things in our room and sat down in the ground floor bar/restaurant to discover the third fabulous thing about our hotel. The food and drink was ...

The roads are well marked but they require a four wheel drive with high clearance. Did they ever. Our 26 mile trip took about five hours and kept us from doing it again the next day. Pre- 9/11, you could leave your campsite at Rio Grande Village and walk to the river. For a couple of dollars a nice Mexican ...
Marathon, Texas, United States jgsreh... know beforehand whether we would be car camping, primitive camping, or backpacking, and we had brought along options for everything. Therefore, actually packing up our stuff took much longer than it otherwise would have. Anyway, after lunch, we set off up the trail. PHOTO_ID_R=setting-off--heading-towards -emory-peak.jpg That first day, we only had to hike 3.7 miles. However, it was an unrelenting uphill climb, and each of us were carrying 12 ...
