          ... few hours before catching the last boat back to Poole at 5 o'clock. We then had dinner in the King Charles pub, the oldest pub in Poole, which apparently has been proven to be haunted.           ... of candy floss tingled our noses, but we sought out a patio serving up beverages instead. The bar at the Thistle Hotel was the first outdoor space that offered enough room for our party, so we sat and sipped hot chocolates, Guinness and Baileys while watching the action that continued along the quay. By 10:00 there were more tired children crying than laughing, and the fair rides and food stands were starting to pack up, so we too capped off our Guy Fawkes Day fun and left the harbour.

          ... was just stuck in traffic, about the fourth different story in 20 minutes. Just before arriving at the Haven, our cab driver got a message from his buddies at the airport -- "our driver has just shown up"-- over 2 hours late!! Good riddance. Once at the hotel, we were lunged in total darkness, so I could see absolutely nothing. Making my parallel, I would say the hotel is like a holiday in -- but our rooms (for just one night - tonight), were worse than a motel 6. ...
