... high above the castle, where sentry boxes or garitas dotted the outer walls.
The informational guide told of a well that led to an underground cistern holding 220,000 gallons of water, enough to sustain a fortress under siege for one year. One word in particular caugt my interest. I thought back upon yesterday's adventure at Jacinto's Well, smiling. Reading on, I learned of other highlights including chimneys ...
... up, doing some last minute shopping in the galleria and grabbing lunch at Galleria Pizza & Trattoria. I was actually quite happy with my chicken tender wrap! This was a great little place to grab a "quick" bite..well as quick as you can get on island time that is!
Then it was bye bye Puerto Rico! Hope to see you again soon!

San Juan, Puerto Rico scbrau10... is how every day should start! The ship has an acupuncture specialist. We are interested to try it for the holistic and overall cleansing of the body (at least that is how they sold us on it). So, we made appointments for both of us for tomorrow. Never had acupuncture before, but I do think it has some healing properties. So, we shall see! Take Care Rich and John
San Juan, Puerto Rico johnandrich... you all the best of luck in 2009. Later Days, Dave PS. For the boys in LP, you'll never guess where I found my wallet: the cabbie who drove my family to the airport at 4am the day we left for the BVI was the same guy that brought us home from Spice four days earlier, and so I told the story, and as I was walking through Pearson he came after me and handed off the lost wallet. I'd say my luck is changing for 2009!
San Juan, Puerto Rico dbiddy... not too impressed with this part. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, just nothing extraordinary. We decided to go for a great (and pricey) lunch where waiters wore traditional clothing. I think the name was Raices and it was in the middle of Old San Juan. The food was served in high wooden cups which was interesting. The Sangria was simply delicioso. Heading back from Old San Juan we were ready to get on the bus to head for our Night Kayaking Trip. The drive was uneventful and ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico vikatw... it was probably best to get out from under it before one of us got hit with something, and as we were leaving another family had come. A mother was holding her daughter as the father fed the pigeons, which scared the little girl because she screamed at the top of her lungs to the birds "Get away from my Dad!" It was absolutely the sweetest thing, so I asked to take a picture of them. The Mom asked if I had MySpace so she could see the picture, which was ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico hayesbk... of the forest. The sound of water in the distance calls to us. Suddenly, the trail ends at a natural pool where water falls over the edge of a tall cliff like a sheer curtain over an open window with the wind blowing through it. Michael decides to get in and finds the water very cold. Soon, the waterfall is calling to Kris, and she can't resist. We have to change into our swimsuits. We find the perfect "dressing room" behind a tree and quickly ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico globetrotters... the Late Formative Period, or Early Horizon according to the Peruvian chronology proposed by Rowe. In the South Coast, this is often referred to as the Paracas-Nasca interface. The ceramics which constitute this transitional time period lack the elaborate post-fire, polychrome, resin-painted wares of the Paracas tradition and the Early Nasca artistic style and iconography. Proto-Nasca, Nasca 0, and Nasca 1 are all terms that have been given to the various vessel types ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico linzstoker... and bumping into people. I've met a lot of cool people on the ship, so there's always something to do and someone to hang out with. My classes are actually pretty interesting so far. We all have global studies which really isn't an exciting class at all but it is helpful in learning some things about the countries before you get to them. Me, Cheron and Caitlin are all in abnormal psych together which seems like it's going to be ...
