The Lake District & Beatrix Potter

A travel blog entry by kyliep on Nov 01, 2014

We woke to a cloudy day today. The main place we wanted to visit was Hill Top, which was Beatrix Potter's home when she first moved from London. She used the earnings from her first couple of books to buy the property. When she died she requested that no one live in the property and that everything be left as it was. She also wrote a list of things she wanted left on display in ...

A travel blog entry by kyliep on Oct 31, 2014

We left the Cotswolds this morning for our five hour drive north. We decided to break up our trip by going to Chatsworth House. Once they knew we had a remote connection they became very friendly and chatty and it was hard to stop them talking.

The other excitement of the week was the destruction ...

... It's got lots of shops which range from supermarkets to famous sausage butchers and brand name outlets to lovely dress shops. The pretty river Ribble runs around the town and the moors form a back drop. The caravan park is right next to the river so I just have to walk through a gate in the hedge to reach the river bank. I spent the rest of my stay in Clitheroe rather quietly. Each morning I gave Treacle a long walk, ...
