... in the vicinity. It contains interesting facts on the history and biology of the lake. It's worth a visit, especially because of the aquariums with fish and the Baikal seal. A very cute animal. It is a rather short, but very round, almost like a ball with a head and tail attached.
In the museum are also some old photographs, which confirm my assumption that this area was very poor and underdeveloped until the tourists came. In 1958 there was no road here. The village next ...

... muesli... and yes we bought this with us from home (I even packed spoons !) and, upcycling our noodle pots for cereal bowls, we have enjoyed a good breakfast each morning. ... up, I'm thinking this will be fun...but it wasn't all bad as slowly the frostiness receded and Mr Grumpy smiled the next morning while pouring me half a cup of his special looking Whisky/Brandy at 6am, then looked suitably impressed as I downed it without a wince, that's it ice broken at last, even though neither the chap or his mum spoke any english what so ever we again got by with smiles and sharing of food and drink, even their tea which she kindly insisted I drank, ...

... not convinced about how much I need this but I would have been happy if it had done as a make shift ice bucket) that Les insisted I needed with fresh snow to use to chill the champagne. Helpfully, (or unhelpfully in this case) there is no snow on the platforms as they clear it away so no chilled champagne. Champagne Thursday had to wait till Saturday in Irkutsk. Woke up around 11am in our very very warm cabin, had some breakfast from our stash and we are just sitting about. The scenes out of the window are much the same as before, lots of snow covered forests and lots of Small villages made up of different styles of houses.
