... problem in a row I’ve had with the Munich S-Bahn system. Yesterday, I had to disembark numerous stations early due to weekend track maintenance, causing me a 20-minute delay reaching my hotel.

We pop into one of the original Amish tourist places and had prior notice from travel blogs etc re the Target right next door to the place. Its the Amish Farm and House. We had planned to take the tour around the school, and to learn about the Amish life etc but as there were only a couple of runs being made, we couldn't wait. The memorial was two huge tapering walls with a gap in the middle for you to enter. This is a reference from his famous speech 'I Have A Dream’ where he said: "Out of a mountain of despair, a stone of hope." Once inside, you could see quotes beautifully engraved all down both walls. One of the neatest areas was the Naval Academy, an impressive coeducational federal service academy. While 1300 attend as "plebes" only 1000 generally graduate with a four year degree. A beautiful campus, with high security, and plenty of tradition (beat Army). see pictures.

... Star-Spangled Banner (which was absolutely massive!!) and a really interesting exhibit on Food in America. They even had a replica of Julia Child's kitchen complete with all Kitchen Aid products! It was fascinating to see how the role of the WWII had on the advancement in food production, food technologies in the home and the repercussions on American's health.
Next was the National Museum of Natural History and Oh My God, what an amazing museum. ...
