... the Marriott so really central and not Marriott prices. The real bonus is meeting people and so met Anna from Columbia on the walking tour and we ate out together twice before she moved on. This meant we were able to sample the two restaurants recommended us on the walking tour. San Francisco, no problems, no complaints, no dramas. Alright, when my bag comes out the carousel and its in two bits and my Scotland boxers are coming round separately, I did think, here we go! But no, our luck wasn't so bad. Everything from then on went smooth. After getting to the hostel we stand out back and have the best view of San Franciscos sights. Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz both in plain view. ...
... although it was very busy and extremely windy! From there a short ride in Sausalito where we locked the bikes up (never seen so many bikes in racks in one place!). After all the exertions, time for a little refreshment and a wander round Sausalito before getting the ferry back, with bikes, across San Francisco Bay and then a walk (mostly up hill!) back to the hotel for a freshen up. We had just about enough energy left to stagger round the corner to Lori's diner before falling into ...
... way back towards the hotel. But we were side tracked and stopped off at the world famous Ghirardelli's Chocolate Company, in Ghirardelli Square. The company started producing chocolate here way back in 1852, and started the ice cream some time later, so it was a Warm Brownie Sundae for Elaine and a Sea Salt Caramel Banana Quake Shake for me... naughty, but very very nice. n.b.
