After another full breakfast, we take the subway to Schonbrunn Palace, the summer "getaway" for the royal family, starting in the 1700's. The hotel breakfast room, with its white tablecloths and yellow/orange roses on each table, is located within a conservatory so it's bright. The buffet is nicely laid out with many options. Then wait almost 30 min in a stairwell before they let us on the plane. Love airports! We picked up a small …

The big cathedral in Vienna is St. Stephens Cathedral (Stephansdom), in the center of the city "ring." It was quite grand and competitively built larger than St. Vitus in Prague. And it worked, giving Vienna a bishop as well as becoming the new seat of power for the Holy Roman Empire. Even Mike had to admit that "Steve's" church was ...

... night, there was a pop music fest going on with some strange reggae-rock going on and a giant inflatable duck in a pond, again on the backdrop of a beautiful, old building so we sat there for a bit and it was all over before midnight. It was finally time for Italy and we were thoroughly looking forward to all the pizza and gelato we had been saving ourselves for, but alas, it was not meant to be... We merrily boarded our first train to Innsbruck ...
