For bare 40 kroner.

... by the sculptures, nor the artists love affair when he was 54 with a 19-year-old woman who became his 3rd wife.

We switch gears from exploring Norwegians' haunches to exploring its heroes, none more daring than Fridtjof Nansen.

Back in the first decade of the 1990's, old Fridtjof wanted to be the first human being to set foot on both the North and South Poles.

He designed a ship - the Fram - with the following in mind. He ...

... of travelling Europe. Meeting the people I have and learning from them and almost everyone of the mistakes. I arrived later in Oslo and I again had no bookings, like every other city I have been to. But this city was the hardest to find a room, I actually almost resorted to a motel room. But all the motels were booked out. As it was the weekend. So I walked up and down left and right trying all together maybe 5. Sorry no room at the inn. And ...

Day Four - Oslo

... jump, we went to the Open Air Folk Museum. It is a recreation of life in Norway dating back to 1250. They have brought buildings from all over the country and reassembled them here to show how primitive life was back then. Most families lived in a one-room house, with a central hearth and a hole cut in the ceiling to let the smoke out. Their storehouses were usually twice as big as the house. Since winter lasted 6 months, they had ...

Excepto ...

... tips and offering advise on what to expect over the next few days. There is a real camaraderie between the trekkers, you get the feeling that we are all in this together. Telling people your doing an overland to Australia always makes me the centerer of attention and usually i can spot someone who has over heard me talking about it, they hover around doing nothing in particular and when they get their chance they step in with "did i hear you right, your traveling overland to ...

... first expeditions to North and South Poles-, and the Viking Boats Museum. Late in the evening we go to Frogner Park. It's great!!!! It's full of Gustav Vigeland's sculptures. The park is veeeery big, beautiful, with all these realistic human sculptures. the best thing is the 15 meters height monolith located in the middle of the park, made of naked people interlaced. You have to see it! The park itself is really symbolic; it represents the ...
