... beach and down the roadways around Kenia. The sand is dark in color and very hard to peddle on, in fact impossoble to pedal on. This evening we had a pot luck dinner and some people had poems or songs the performed, they were very funny. We all said our good-byes
Moose are not only elusive, they are so skittish! IF you happen to see one...and if you want to capture it...in pictures, you must be extremely quiet...and fast on the brakes and the trigger (camera trigger, of course)!
I thought the "Barely Legal" sign was just plain silliness until I researched how difficult it really is to determine if a moose is legal to shoot.
The hunters' mantra, "Any doubt, don't shoot."
... as it left its calling card while we were on the platform watching the fish. A HUGE berry-filled pile of scat was on the trail, and it was NOT on the trail on the walk to the platform.
Back at the ranch, it started pouring with gale force winds. Nevertheless, three bald eagles began dive bombing the beach for treats! Very exciting, but too quick to capture!
... br> Our campsite was on a 300 foot bluff overlooking the Cook Inlet, with 3 active volcanoes on the horizon. We hiked their Interpretive Trail and Beach Trail where we found some interesting rocks.
We moved to Talon Air in Soldotna on Monday and took care of chores on the way-dumped, filled with fresh water and LP, got groceries and did laundry.
Tuesday we got up early because we had a 6:30 am check in time for our fly-in fishing trip ...

The first few phone calls didn't pan out, (full or answering machine). Mike found a Fishing Charter business with good ratings and near us in Soldotna. Roger called them up and they said they'd find us something so we all got in the van and drove over to them.
Alaska Fishing Charters is run by the same owner (and location) as Soldotna Bed & Breakfast, directly on the Kenai River. Despite us not ...
