It´s the end of the world as we know it...

... who would think it is at 54 deg S?

The locals beat their chests as the southern most city in the world, excellent craft beer and of course... chocolate. Ushuaia is nestled to the southwest of Lago Fagnano and under the shadows of the Fuegian Mountain range (the southern most range of the dominant Andes). It´s quiet and small and just the place to be. The streets are full of gift and luxury shops, with the alternate expedition ...

Glaciar Martial e muita neve

... pela neve, nas queria ver mais. Sentido que seria perigoso e jah exausto, voltei lentamente ao refugio e ao teleferico logo a frente. A caminhada toda durou umas 3 horas.

I get around boy!

It's cold. It's dark. The only thing that will change is the time as being so far south the sun will not rise for another couple off hours with sunlight hours being less and less, the snow and ice though will remain covering the roads, the trees, the roofs, and the shores. I crossed into the border of Argentina not so long ago it seems but, actually over 4 weeks back and that now is over 5000km north and where I first saw the ...

Ushuaia - Southern most city in the world

... the lopez amd othere ranges as a backdrop. We do a little trek called the refugio lopez, where we get view from up high where you are able to apprecaite the features of this beautiful town. It is little town which we explore, we are occasionly folloiwed by the hostel dogs, Gareth hates them, I found it funny encouraging the dogs a little. I enjoy chilling out near the lake just reading my book

Ushuaia - The End Of The World

... parts of Ireland or Scotland during winter. Its amazing how this landscape is attractive, but it just is. Its not bright, there aren`t any huge mountains or massive lakes or other rare or extreme geographical feature, but all the same it is still just beautiful . Though the biting wind makes it hard work. There was plenty of wildlife though we saw very little out of the ordinary, lots of rabbits, ducks and birds ...

The end of the world

... Mission Impossible. I´ve been gtting plenty of rest here anyway, as there are only 2 other students in the school! First of all that means private lessons, which is absolutely exhausting and secondly I haven´t been going out that much! Did go to an Irish bar called Dublin on St Patricks day which was a lot of fun. The beer was green, rattles and other noise making artifacts were handed out i ended up wearing a hat with a pigs nose on it, and a gold tinselwig for most of the night ...

First Day in Ushuaia

... reboarded the plane and continued onto Ushuaia. Arrived in Ushuaia and the temp is OK around 11 was met by veronica from the tour company, she spoke English well and had all of the answers to my questions as if she had been asked them before. She took me to the hostel a cute little place just of the main street. They have wireless internet so I have logged on just to do this update for those unfortunate to be stuck back in the land of OZ. See ya.

Ushuaia

... tenders that held a lot of people. Just soon after getting off of the tender the rain started - so we went to use the internet (slow and busy) and then went to have lunch at the restaurant we ate at the last time we were in Ushuaia. We had the same waiter and although Jim wasn't feeling the greatest - we did have a nice lunch. After lunch Jim headed back to the ship and I headed out to do a little shopping ...

CHAPTER 2: YOU SAY PAMPAS, I SAY NAPPIES

... opened up two lines of questioning: 1.Do kids really want to know what those cute little characters taste like? Seems a bit brutal of them wanting to eat ice cream made from the amenable little creatures. And what would it taste like? Chicken?! 2.One hot chick (Smurfette), 100 men in the village and not one of them trying to crack on to her... how did it never occur to me that they were Puffo's in the first place?! As you can see, as the world goes into fiscal meltdown ...

End of the World and End of My Trip

They call Ushuaia "El Fin del Mundo", (the end of the world) because the Argentinians claim it is the southernmost city (the Chileans have their own ideas about that). I came here to catch the boat to Antarctica, and am now spending a couple of days here before leaving to head back to Santiago and then home. Ushuaia is an odd little town, looking more like it belongs in Europe than in Sth America. It is tourist central, given that it´s a ski resort town in ...
