Historical Traveler Reviews Sky Harbor Bavarian Inn Chattanooga

Very friendly Inn with great views

    from

From placing the initial reservation, to gaining assistance with directions, until arrival at the Inn the folk were very friendly. The room was quite old fashioned in its decor as you'd expect from the advertising, but was generally clean (unless you inspected too closely) and had a great view over Chattanooga and the River. I preferred its location to Chattanooga as it was peaceful and close to the Incline Railway and Ruby Falls which are definitely worth a visit. The Inn is only a short drive from the Tennessee Aquarium area where there are some great restaurants - be prepared for a $5 parking charge for the area though. In particular try the Sekisui Japanese restaurant. Good value for the $65 rate with Breakfast included.

    Worth It!!

    from

My husband, two children & I spent four nights at the Sky Harbor Inn. The view was spectacular! The heated pool, alone, was worth the price of the room. We were very happy with having Cable TV in the room. The owners were very accomodating, nice, friendly people.

The rooms could use some renovating, but they were clean.

We would certainly consider staying here again on a future visit.

We loved Sky Harbor Bavarian Inn

    from

My husband and I found Sky Harbor Bavarian Inn while searching on the internet for a quiet, cozy, romantic place to stay for a weekend. We are glad we chose to stay with them. Very restful and the management was great. In fact, I am preparing to contact them very soon. We are ready for another quiet, cozy, romantic getaway.

    Very Wonderful

    from

We found this great deal on the internet and took a chance for our honeymoon. What a great place to stay! The view is beautiful, the staff is fantastic, and it is convenient to everything yet hidden from traffic. We will definitely be staying here again.

    The perfect weekend getawy!

    from

My wife and I was looking for a place to stay on a weekend getaway and found the Sky Harbor. It was perfect! It is somewhere between a motel and a bed and breakfast. We stayed in the honeymoon sweet and it was beautiful. With hardwood floors, antique furniture, the hands down best view in Chattanooga from your own private balcony, and hot tub you will not beat this place. There is also a pool. Everything was exceptionally clean and the owners are very friendly. It's just minutes from Ruby Falls, Rock City, and downtown. Feel free to contact me with questions (I'm not any relative of the owners, I've only met them once - I'm just a big fan of the Sky Harbor, lol) I don't know what the one reviewer was expecting but, I would reccomend it to anyone. We can't wait to get back there again. It's just perfect!!

    Not what we expected!

    from

My husband and I were very dissapointed in what we found when we got to the Sky Harbor. I am very afraid of heights and has been assured by the manager that it looked down on a yard and I would be fine! NOT! It hangs right off the edge of the mountain. We saved our money for 2 years to make this special anniversary trip then had to go home after one night. Besides the height which I had been mislead about, the rooms were small and cramped, the TV's were tiny and did not even have a VCR. The sitting room had a small rickety table and two old rickety chairs to sit in - not even a love seat in the honeymoon suite so you could sit together! We were on a tight budget, as I said, we saved two years to make this trip - and were planning to eat breakfast in our room, but there wasn't even a microwave in the "fully stocked" kitchen to heat our muffins in. The bathroom had no shelf or counter to put anything on, and the towels were old and stiff. We were very dissapointed even though we paid for two nights we left the next day because it was so bad! I would not reccommend to anyone to stay there!!When we first arrived, I told the manage that I had been mislead about the height and she was very unsympathetic! I waited a week to write this, hoping that they would return half our money, but they are obviously more concerned with keeping our money that with telling the truth or pleasing the customers. I can only imagine that the other people who wrote the glowing reviews must have been relatives!

Lovely, cozy, the best view of beautiful Chattanooga

    from

It is my favorite little mountain get away. It feels like a step back in time. I love it.

We love everything about the wonderful quaint motel

    from

the sky harbor is the most wonderful getaway spot in the south. the view is so calming and the motel itself is like stepping back into time when travelling was really an adventure. all the rooms are different from each other: its like staying at a different place each time you visit. the hospitality is unsurpassed by anywhere we have ever stayed.

it is close to everything from shopping at the outlet malls on market street, to the other attractions that chattanooga is famous for. and last but certainly not least they allow you to bring your beloved puppy along (better known as a member of your family) patsy you and your husband are the best owner/caretakers anywhere. we have stayed all over the world and you are the best. you must try this wonderful place. **** four star hotel. charlie, barbara and bambi turner charlie, barbara and bambi.

    Loved Sky Harbor

    from

My family - husband, son and I - wanted to spend Valentine's day in Chattanooga and eat lunch at TBones. Instead of getting up on Saturday morning and making the trek, we decided to go on Friday night. We've always wanted to stay in one of the motels/hotels along Lookout Mountain. I found Sky Harbor on the 'net and called on Thursday night. Luckily, they had a room. We arrived late on Friday night, 9:00 our time, 10:00 their time. They were still in the office. We were able to check right in. The rooms had hardwood floors and each had a balcony. The rooms were the perfect size for a night. My husband and I sat on the balcony until 3 or 4 the next morning just chatting although it was freezing outside. It was so relaxing and not in the city like we're used to. All of the rooms have a great view of the Tennessee river. There was a large pot of coffee in the vending area the next morning. The checkout time was 11:00 so we didn't feel rushed at all to get out. The owners were awesome!! Whenever we go back to Chattanooga, we'll leave the night before just so we can stay in Sky Harbor.

Got on the road this morning about 9:45 due to some paperwork and household issues. Nice day of riding down US 72 across north Mississippi and Alabama and on into Chattanooga arriving at Davied's about 5:30 local time (Eastern time zone). Stopped for gas twice on way over and had lunch in Decatur, AL. Weather was pretty nice with some clouds and temps in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Not perfect but much better than the upper 90s ...

... actually had the key for the bike lock with us so we rode our bikes on the less traveled roads of the Chickamauga Battlefield in the relatively cool morning hours. Had a covered dish and meeting with 10K members and then went into Chattanooga for a concert in the park on the river.

We have visited Chattanooga before so we had already seen the Aquarium, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and Incline Railroad.

A great big Thank You goes out to Cyn and Mike and Bek and Joe for being great hosts and awesome friends. Sunday morning was another big surprise. Rounding the Corner

After leaving Roscoe Sunday morning it was as if we had rounded the corner and home was in sight. We had a number of miles to cover but it was time now to think about getting back to reality and the life we had put on hold in order to take this amazing adventure.

We've spent the last couple of evenings talking about all the places we've been and the amazing things we've seen. Patti and I both agree that doing the blogs has helped ...
