... snow is truly the icing on the cake! The Danes now know the world now looks to Copenhagen for the best in design, architecture and fashion... It has been fashion week on this side of the world and Copenhagen, as fashionable and trendy as it is, is no exception. It really has not disrupted the city too much but you did notice the increase in people roaming the streets and looking very lost. The reason I am telling you all this you may ask... well I got ...
Malmo, Sweden nomadicnikki... became clear that there weren't enough seats on the train. Many seats were reserved and those who hadn't bothered reserving were left to scramble for the limited unreserved selection or find objects other than seats on which to sit. The people who boarded at Berlin Spandau (the next and final stop before Hamburg Hbf) who didn't have seat reservations had no chance. The express leg to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof was uneventful; no time was made up during our running, we arrived ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark v1213Nikki kan tale lidt danske (can speak a little Danish) WOOHOO!! I AM STILL ALIVE AND HAVING A BALL!!! I am taking a Danish course which keeps my really busy! The teacher is crazy and funny with a real flare for drama as he twists himself into a pretzel when you don't quite get the pronunciation right or just mess it up completely. (Guilty as charged when it comes out with my Aussie accent) My favourite phrase is det ved jeg ikke (I don't know)!! I have met ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark nomadicnikkiRoadtrip to White Cliffs Blog (25.11.08) While we were in Amsterdam Amy, Alex, Steve, Barbara, Mary Beth, Omri, Melinda & Julie(Omri's friend from New York) had been on a roadtrip around Denmark in a 9-seater van identical to the one we had for Oktoberfest. They arrived back late on Monday night and were planning to head off to see the white cliffs early the next morning. As there was a spare seat, they were kind enough to let me ...
Dagens drink: Cosmopolitan
Skanor, Skåne, Sweden mattiaslindfors... walk - we really should have just taken a pedicab to the city center - and worked our tour from there. That is what I would suggest for any future visitors. The biggest constructive criticism I have for Princess Cruise lines - is that it's just about impossible to find "snack" or appetizer foods on deck. I like to eat four or six "small" meals a day - rather than having to sit down to a large meal every time I eat. We tried eating in both dining rooms for ...
Copenhagen, Denmark simru12... Later in the day we headed to the camping ground and took some pictures of some kite surfers when they were out. The time during the day was 9:45pm!! Crazy. The sun still was out and left a cool pink tint to the sky as it dipped beneath the horizon. It was windy and cold, but the pictures were nice the ones that we were able to get. It is cool to watch these acrobatic feets, but when it's windy it is generally cold so I have a time limit on such things.
Lomma Beach, Sweden vcruz... at. Now I didn't ever think that I would be eating authentic Aussie food in Denmark but there I was eating Emu, Crocodile and Kangaroo. It was all delcious! We rounded off the night with some drinks at a pub. The past couple days I haven't done to much besides walk around and take pictures. Not too exciting to write about but it's been fun. It is quite grey and cold here most of the time but still really pretty.
Copenhagen, Denmark shieldsy14... that afternoon, a young buck from Exeter, UK. I'll briefly mention what classes are like here for all you prospective exchangers (my cool slang for exchange students). Essentially you have one class per unit you take. This class consists of two 45 minute sessions with a 15 minute break in the middle (though one of my classes has three 45 minute sessions). These classes are called Lectures but are more like Australian tutorials, only longer and with short periods ...
Copenhagen, Denmark lordcoolBreakfast this morning was at 7:30, so at 7:25 my alarm went off, and I threw my Russian jumper on over my pjs, and headed to breakfast with Kristy. We noticed that Jenn was still in bed, so we woke her up, and the three of us headed down together. Here we had something to eat and hung around in the room until it looked like the staff was ready to kick us out. Then I discovered that the first taxi group of people leaving to the airport wasn't until ...
