... to expect. As it turns out, we have to climb straight up a rocky path for 30 minutes in the dark to get to the flame area. I've been carrying my hiking sticks all over Europe. Do I have them tonight, when I really need them? No!!! The flames were very interesting, just poking up out of the rocks. Another 5 hours of driving brought us to the Turkish coast and the city of Anatolya. We had to go over the Taurus Mountain range, which looks surprisingly similar to heading to Squaw - lots of rocks and fir trees. The only difference was that every now and then we would see tents with herders and their goats. Other than that, the highway was quite well built and maintained.
