... Torajan villages, where we saw gorgeous traditional style houses with their elaborately carved and painted frontages, adorned with rows of buffalo horns as keepsakes from family funerals, and their brilliant boat-shaped bamboo roofs. Even the small barns the villagers store their rice in are made in this fashion. At one of these villages we met possibly the happiest, most friendly old woman on earth who quite literally welcomed us with open arms and beamed a smile ...

    The Road to Tentena

The bridge wobbled as we walked over it so god knows how it would have stood up to a huge bus. We had to walk bare foot as our flip flops made us slip and our feet and legs were caked in mud. ... told it may fall off, we were ready to go. It was a nice ride through the pretty village of picket fenced houses, lots of children along the way shouting "Hello Mr". We rode across a bridge and along a small road by the side of the river. We had been told by Mr Nagasaki “,that we could ride 6 kms to a hotel and then another 6 kms to a village. He was 72 and was the odd job man from the hotel. He was always sat around and knew the movements of everyone, he spoke ...

Two days to Get There !! and a treat for our Wedding Anniversary

Off again on Lee's Tours, really really looking forward to Amy’s Tours now. Managed to get some clothes washed in Ten Tena so don’t feel so dirty, well at the moment.

We got up early, pancakes again for breakfast and set off, rucksacks on our backs for the bus station. The bus was on time and very nice, air conditioned. At the bus stop I spoke to a young man ...
