It’s a 1.6km walk to where the monkeys are through a lovely pine forest. The Snow monkeys are Japanese Macaques are the only primates to live in a place where it snows. The monkeys are able to do this by spending their time in the onsen.

... chair which is a great run for the kids. A couple of laps of Paradise and then some runs on Yamabiko (the "half pipe" run a highlight for the kdis) and then it was time for lunch at our favourite place on the mountain - Buna.

Filled with our favourite Buna curry's and we made for our last run home - Skyline.

The kids were really skiing well - Spencer has his parrallel turns locked and loves to hunt out new jumps. Eleanor is also pretty fearless ...

Set in the mountain town of Hattoji the whole are is dedicated to preserving the look of the old life in japan and encouraging Gaijin to come and get a taste. ... in the background. The castle in Matsumoto is pretty amazing. It was originally built in the 1400's but destroyed and rebuilt a few times til the version there is now. There are 6 floors but from the outside it only looks like 5 as one is hidden. We got to wander around inside carrying our shoes in plastic bags and wearing dodgy brown slippers. ... the group were soaking in there all nice and warm. Apart from the crowds of people jostling for a good spot to take photos, it was a lovely experience. The little puffy ones were running around and chasing each other, one grabbed a guys lens and looked straight into it, very cute.
