... Velo auf die Meiersalp gefahren und habe dort gecampt. Die Nacht war Sternenklar und die Temperaturen auch noch relativ hoch (ca. 5 Grad Celsius). Es wird deshalb bestimmt nicht meine letzte Testfahrt gewesen sein.

After a week in Basel we jumped on the train to visit my Uncle and Aunt (Heinz and Elsa) in Gossau – a small town in the north east of Switzerland. On the way we spent a few hours in Zurich where we just wandered around the city centre, had lunch and sat by the lake. Heinz and Elsa met us at the train station and walked us back to their place – about 2 minutes away! They took us for a drive up to a place which gives a great view over St Gallen ...

Seit ein paar Jahren steht ausserhalb des Städtchens Europas grösste Modelleisenbahn der Spur 0. Im September findet der Schweizerische Photoflohmarkt statt. Auf diesen Flohmarkt sind wir heute durch Zufall gestossen, wie man auf den Bildern unschwer erkennen kann.

... usern entlang der Hauptgasse haben im Erdgeschoss entweder Läden oder Cafés und Restaurants, also alles für die vielen Touristen. Mitten in den Häusern steht die 1561 erbaute Heiligkreuzkapelle. Anlässlich der Renovation von 1963–65 erhielt die Kapelle Glasgemälde von Ferdinand Gehr, einem in der Schweiz, vor allem im Rheintal sehr bekannten Maler. Am Ende des touristischen Teils der Hauptgasse liegt der Landsgemeindeplatz.

We found Kieran and James waiting for us in a garage, and after a quick look at the bodge, we set off again, heading for Lake Bodensee and Austria.

We were at the head of the convoy, using the GPS to check we were still on the correct route, and we stopped at a set of traffic lights for roadworks. ... can't take photos in the library and I can describe in words the beauty of the library sufficiently. Let's just say if you have the chance, go take a look.

It was time for food so we found a little cafe and had a bite to eat before tracking down my parents again. They were hungry because they had been waiting for us before they ate (oops!) so we returned to the same cafe and they had a quick meal before we returned to the car. Next stop: Austria!

... We strolled through the cobbled streets of Konstance admiring the mixture of old, new and not so new. Lots of paintings on the walls of the old buildings in this part of town and yet there were newer pictures also on the restored and renovated establishments. The mural painting skill was still alive and well in Europe as they try to preserve the character of the towns. Most of what we saw were retail ...

... Gottlieben, Switzerland. One of Rick's business associates had made reservations for us at the Hotel Drachenburg. Quite a nice place! Our room seemed very French with a bidet and a chaise lounge. We had lunch there and had dinner with Helmut. I don't have the name of the restaurant, but we had possibly the best poached salmon ever!!
