Physical exertion, oh my!

So last night, we caught what was supposed to be a deluxe overnight train to Lao Cai on our way to Sapa, a mountainous resort north of Hanoi (374 kms away and it took 10 hours of train and 1 hour of minibus!). The sleeping berth wasn't bad, not to our expectation but it was clean and comfy. Our hotel travel agent booked the 2 bottom beds for us because they usually can not sell the 2 top bunks on thieir own but we got stuck with 2 VNese national solo travellers, who, in turn got stuck with Pi...

We then had dinner followed by a show by the local women and karoake - a good and very boozy night - too much rice wine.<br><br>We all slept together in a huge room with individual mossie nets - it was just great.<br><br>30th October - pancakes for breakfast then off back to Sapa for the day - a lot of sore heads, but OK for the train to Hanoi. Poor Mark was exceptionally ill!!! A non drinker and rice wine just do not mix!!
