Op naar Golden Bay. Veel, heel veel regen onderweg. In Takaka aangekomen gaan we eerst even lunchen. Het is springen over de waterplassen. Takaka is een apart plaatsje. Met veel hippies en alternatieve winkeltjes maar ook echte farmers. Dat gaat goed samen.
Na de lunch schijnt eindelijk de zon.

Op deze plek gaan we de komende dagen …

... weiter Richtung Norden gefahren. Schließlich wollte ich zumindest den nördlichsten Punkt der Südinsel sehen! Leider war es auch hier immer noch verregnet.

Also habe ich mich schließlich entschlossen, mir ein Campingplätzchen mit Aussicht zu suchen und einfach nichts zu tun. In der Hoffnung, dass das Wetter bald besser wird!

... osé revendiquer la NZ comme hollandaise. Captain Cook en revanche a gagné le respect des Maoris en faisant preuve de courage et a pu planter l'Union Jack. Le destin des Néo-zélandais était scellé : ils aimeront le fish & chips ; la bière et le rugby.

Le parc Abel Tasman se situe à l'endroit où Mr Tasman a donc débarqué, dans la Golden Bay, au nord de l'île Sud. Ce parc est réputé pour ses plages ...

... waters as it was still very windy. We walked around to the rock pools and cliff edges to explore and take pictures and we were only ones there it was perfect (bar the wind). On our way back to the car the wind picked up again an the tiny bits of sand felt like needles against our bare legs so we were running/ hobbling backwards over the beach. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and reading and staying out of the gale force ...

... crossed the estuary to Awaroa, which can only be done at low tide. Even at low tide we had to go barefoot and wade through puddles and across a graveyard of clam shells. The Department of Conservation camping huts actually looked like very pleasant places to stay on multi-day hike, apart from the army of sand flies present.
Once it was open the village store didn't have anything too appetising for us to cook up for dinner, so we set out in search ...

    We hebben hier een self contained family unit. Geweldig onderkomen.
    Het restaurant van Sans Soucis is eveneens klasse.
