        ... that now the land is under the Spanish crown authority. Well the tribe - today knowns as the Mayas - just looked at the Spanish people with no idea what they were talking and answered with a simple "Ma ya" what means "I don't understand you". As the Spanish thought that the tribe is introducing themselves by saying "Ma ya" they were called Mayas from then on. Simple it is - not sure if this is historically correct, but still a good story! :-)

Two and a half hours after starting our road trip we reached a toll on the highway where we had to pay the equivalent to approx $25 for the pleasure of continuing down the same road.         ... we were taken into a cavern system with rooms as big as sports halls. Again, there was amazing rock formations and fossils being accentuated with natural lighting through shaft holes. All this natural beauty was only available to divers even though it was almost in touching distance for those on the surface.
