Day 7: Pigeon Forge is a kids' Vegas

A travel blog entry by elainesj on Jul 19, 2014

The Sleep Inn was simple, newly renovated, and the price was right. Best part - they accommodated my little doggy who hung out in the room while we were at Wonderworks. Was surprised to find out it was super close to Wonderworks, so that worked out in our favor. It would have been a pain to stay in a more central "Pigeon Forge" hotel and have to travel so far when Wonderworks is near the end of the Strip.

Day 6: Rain, rain go away

... no downtown strip to walk in so we might as well head back to the cabin. Passing by a grocery store, we couldn't resist a quick pit stop for more food (we were getting nervous our supplies wouldn't hold out until the next day).

We ended up back at the cabin and decided to spend the night enjoying our cabin, each other, and engaging in a fierce battle of Mexican Train Dominoes.

Day 5: Attempted a quiet, lazy day

We absolutely loved the freedom to make as much noise as we wanted and not have to worry about neighbors. So wonderful to have our own secluded space.

    Day 4: All about riding!

A travel blog entry by elainesj on Jul 16, 2014

... Phan on a hair-raising, twisty motorcycle ride on the Cherohala Skyway, considered one of the best touring roads in America.

After a couple of hours, we split up - Will an I took all 4 kids to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest for a hike while Phan and Thao took the motorcycle to conquer the Tail of the Dragon, the legendary motorcycle route featuring over 318 bends in 11 miles. They had a blast, spending almost 2 hours flying around on the sports bike! ...

    Day 3: Treasure Hunting!

Day 3: Rose Creek Gem Mine, 4 buckets of dirt for $20

Rates on their website: Dig-Your-Own from the mining tunnel: 2 for $10, all refills $5 (10 refills for $45. Minor miners, 8 & under can help adults)

The mine was in Franklin, so off we went on this day's adventure. Thao ended up paying just for herself and got 2 buckets of dirt which were perfect for Mika and Esen. Phan stood back and ...
