Seth- I love coming back to Penn Yan whenever I can. It really is and always will be home for me. I've been living in NYC for nearly a decade and still I get that 'going home' feeling every time I get into the region. Clean air, clear skies, and nice ...

It was a great 2nd day in the finger lakes! We started the morning by going to Watkins Glen State Park, which is right at the base of Seneca Lake. If you’re going all the way to Upper Entrance to catch the shuttle bus back, I suspect it might be easier to turn around at Mile Point and enjoy the gorge again on the downhill trek back to the main entrance than to go up all the steps to get to the shuttle at the upper entrance. If you think you’ll need the shuttle, I’d park in the upper entrance, walk down the Gorge Trail to the main ...

... seems to be the "raison d'etre" of this city. Everything looks a little tired and worn, too. But once we crossed into the state park, my opinion changed drastically. Neat, well cared for, and not terribly crowded on a Thursday afternoon, the Niagara Falls State Park was lovely to stroll around in. Chris had purchased Discovery Passes for us in advance, and we picked these up at the main visitors center. Our passes ...
