Noodles & more noodles
Wandering along the streets in the old merchant quarter of Takayma we felt as though we had been transported back several centuries. Most of the restored buildings are tourist souvenir shops, but there are also lots of food outlets, many selling the famous Hida beef. Hida beef is similar to Kobe beef, with fatty marbling and rich flavour …
We …
Down the Spur Line to Takayama

Fast train to Takayama
Departed Kyoto this morning. Took a while to get out of the Ryokan as we first had to compete in the smiling and bowing competition with the lady who ran the place. It's difficult to get a reaction out of the Japanese on the street but get into a commercial transaction with them and you can’t turn them off! Having paid for the room when we …

A great place to stay in a lovely town. very central, friendly hotel with Japanese and western rooms. a good choice all round.

We really enjoyed this place. In the centre of the city you can explore anything you would like. The employees like to help you with finding good places to eat or authenitic places to go at.
Especially the lounge with dozens of National Geographics and other books we liked a lot. We could stay for a couple of hours before we went to our room.
Perfect place to stay is my idea of this accommodation.
