... s gotta have their little claim to fame and just west of Kearney there is the Archway Monument . Designed by a Walt Disney team, the Archway spans more than 300 feet over Interstate 80 and weighs nearly 1,500-tons. Opened in 2000 it attracted nearly half a million visitors in its first 2 years, way below projections, lost money and had to refinance. My questions is; how optimistic were your projections? ... to 2014. We caught the travel bug again and decided to hit the road. This time heading West. The Pace Arrow was replaced with another Fleetwood Bounder 37' with two slides, and we down sized to just one Pomeranian, Foxy. ... see. We saw a few wind farms, but nothing like we have seen in California and states further west. But, our view was only from Interstate 80. Many complain about these wind turbines, saying that their presence mars the countryside, but I find them pleasing to watch, as they perform their graceful dance when encouraged by the wind.
