Getting Our Kicks.. on Route 66
... she was very entertaining, also really knowledgeable about everything to do with the area. Once at the lodge, we ran for shelter straight away and waited indoors until the rain subsided a bit, but then the view was a bit misty and not as impressive as the previous one. Still we had fun browsing the gift shop, Snellers reading every book there was on offer about mountain lions, which have definitely taken over from orcas as creature of the month! Frying Pan or Fire
... through scraggly brush. Who might be out there in this freezing rain? Frying pan, or fire, I thought.
On the freeway I proceeded slowly, right-hand lane, until a bucket-slosh of rain sent visibility to almost nil. A sign said "Campground, Saguaro National Park," so I pulled into a dirt lot beside the ramp, joined by nine motorcycles and two more cars.
Back on the road, Tucson was a blur, many lanes ...
The Campers go to Town
... agave and aloe plants which were new to us. The herb garden, unfortunately, was under construction and won't be open for another two months. We did spend about two hours or so in the area, as the photos below show. I saw a hummingbird up close, but they are quick little creatures, as we know and the photo didn't turn out. Birds abound there and we did get a few good shots.

First Visit to Arizona
... wild west city, complete with a railroad stop, train and a bordello. Take some pictures here, it's fun! Also you can find out about the mines in the area where some of the supposed treasure was sought after in the mid 1800's.
Arizona is really an amazing place to visit. Whether you like the West or not, you can find plenty to do here and plenty of amazing sites to see. Looking forward to going again and seeing the amazing Grand Canyon!

Our New Home
... 5 minutes turned into a 30 minute heart pounding trip.
So rental car returned, we then went to tempe. All this before 12 am.
So dad being dad again, didn't listen to mum for the address to finding a wal-mart, se he drove to tempe, thinking it's a suburb, and we'll pass a wall-mart but its a whole different city, almost.
