    On Monday we said goodbye to Canada...for now anyway. We headed for the Blue Water Bridge to make our way to Gaylord, Michigan for the next three days. Unfortunately the border crossing did not go quite as smoothly as on the way in. The traffic was really backed up getting across the bridge and we realized that the toll booths would shut down periodically to lessen the pressure on the customs stations. ...

    To get to the U.S. at Sault Ste. Marie you have to take the International bridge over the St. Marie river which is where Lake Superior dumps into Lake Huron. The Canadian Shield has been replaced by a bit of farmland, but the trees are still plentiful, I even saw a maple syrup farm. It's all about the bridges today!
