„Chciałbym kiedyś wejść na Gerlach" - powiedział J. Rok później M. go tam zabrała. Szlaki na Gerlach zostały zamknięte dla zwykłych turystów wiele lat temu. Teraz wejście na ten najwyższy szczyt Tatr i Karpat odbywa się w asyście uprawnionego przewodnika górskiego. Nie jest …

The next morning, I continued my trip across the state, stopping at Spis Castle along the way. The path was very slippery and it is a miracle that I didn't fall into the mud at some point. Nearly halfway up, on a grassy knoll, a man was herding sheep in a cloud of fog. I felt like I was in “The Sound of Music”, it was so bloody magical.

Finally on top the mountain, we saw ridiculously awesome ...

... in the country. So, there seem to be more people here than usual for this time of year.

But that's no problem. Plenty of mountain air for everyone. Deanne found a nice Koliba, or Chalet that has a restaurant and bar on the first floor and about 15 rooms above. It was perfect. It was just across the railway station at Stary Smokovec, the village we called home. The Lonely Planet was spot-on when it recommended this central village. It's not ...
