... our going away without their permission! Much attention dispensed!
This was a good trip--a little different from our usual trips, as we had no outdoor adventures (having been rained out at Big Thicket), but it was really interesting, and we covered a lot of history.
Next year....who knows?

Around midnight I heard lots of yelling and exclamations. Shortly thereafter,Betsy walked in with the cash spilling out of her pocket. She was the big winner! The wives of the men, who I met the next weekend at a joint family camping trip, were all thrilled to have a woman beat their husbands. Several of them said, "you know, our husbands are really competitive." I just smiled and said, "you haven't met Betsy, have you?."
... in the Blue Ridge Mts. was to the top of "Old Rag" mountain. Ryan took us on this nine-mile loop. This was exactly the kind of hike that we know we won't be able to do probably some time in our 'nearish' future. It was at the outer limits for our quads and knees in terms of stamina. There was an extended section of climbing up, around, and under boulders at the top. You know other people think you are old when they keep offering ...
... has been eating all the eggs and chopped its head off. I got to pick it up and hold it which was... Interesting. Lol. Thankfully they aren't venomous but they are just a nuisance when you want to have chickens and eggs! Zach skinned it later and the rest of the snake will become a meal at some point in the future (gross!! Couldn't imagine eating a snake!!!) after lunch Zach, Lindsey and I went to walmart and I got to buy some things and then we went to Starbucks and then heading back ...
... some serious black clouds... It poured with rain all the way down to Charlottesville!! We made some pit stops along the way and I got to see the university of Virginia which was cool! Saw some downtown Charlottesville as well which is pretty historic! We then spent a decent amount of time in whole foods... It was so fun! We bought lots of food! Had a really nice night chatting to Susan, dean, Lindsey and Oakley! It's raining outside ...
